Babyland
Published by D. Lothrop & Co.
Babyland was introduced as "the baby's own magazine" monthly magazine in 1877 by D. Lothrop & Co. Annual books containing the twelve monthly issues were quartos published in cloth (1878 or later) or illuminated boards (1877 and later).
The contents of the eight page monthly included numerous pictures, short stories, and poems. Subscriptions initially cost 50 cents per year. The monthly magazines were 5 cents each.
In March, 1894 the Alpha Publishing Company bought the rights to the magazine. The first Alpha issue was in November, 1894. Alpha continued the Lothrop numbering and the November, 1894-October, 1895 was volume number XIX.
