Barr-Dinwiddie Printing and Publishing Co., Greenville, Jersey City, New Jersey

The firm of Edward Barr and Miller, a bookbinder in New York was closed in early 1890 secondary to financial considerations and Barr joined Robert Dinwiddie in Greenville, New Jersey to establish Barr-Dinwiddie. In 1892 C. B. Outcalt was noted to be associated with the firm as president.

This firm was a printing and bookbinding company active between 1890 and its dissolution secondary to insolvency in 1900.

There is evidence that as early as 1894 it published one series of books for juveniles. The set was advertised as late as 1900. Of interest is that three of the four books from the series were also published in the same format by McCarthy & Co. (not #3) Some of the McCarthy books have Barr-Dinwiddie Co. title pages with McCarthy noted on the book cover whereas other McCarthy books have McCarthy on both the title page as well as the cover. The McCarthy series has eight titles. Most likely Barr-Dinwiddie supplied the contents of the books too McCarthy & Company.
