Charles E. Brown & Co., Boston
Charles E. Brown joined the Estes & Lauriat firm in 1872 as a traveler and head of the manufacturer department. In the mid-late 1870's he also published on his namesake imprint at Estes & Lauriat's address: 143 Washington Street. In 1885 Charles E. Brown was the treasurer of the newly formed Aldine Publishing Company.
In 1886 Brown as well as several others were admitted as partners to Estes & Lauriat. Brown was in charge of the latter firm's wholesale department. In April, 1891 he left Estes & Lauriat and established his own publishing house, Charles E. Brown & Co. This firm was active as late as 1897.
Charles E. Brown published several sets for juveniles.
