Charles H. Davis, Philadelphia
Charles H. Davis was a Philadelphia publisher that printed on his
namesake imprint between 1854 and 1864.
In 1864 Davis joined Willis P. Hazard and Robert Porter to establish
another Philadelphia publisher, Davis, Porter and Co.
In 1866 Henry T. Coates joined Davis and Robert Porter to form Davis,
Porter & Coates.
Davis was also part of Baker, Davis and Co. (Successors to T. Ellwood Zell) which began a copartnership in July, 1875. It dissolved in 1876 and was succeeded by Charles H. Davis and Company. T. Ellwood Zell, Davis and Co. was active in the late 1870's.
This firm published two series for juveniles:

Charles H. Davis introduced this series in 1856. The address on the title page of these books, 39 South Fourth Street, was Davis' 1856 address.
This series was also published by T. Ellwood Zell, Hayes & Zell,
and Whilt & Yost.
The exact titles in this series list are unknown. The Whilt and Yost
series had these eight titles. The Hayes & Zell series had twelve
titles.
The T. Ellwood Zell had six titles.
