G. J. Loomis, Albany
In 1814 George Jepson Loomis (1793-) operated a book bindery at State and Lodge Streets. By 1815 the firm name was George P. Loomis & Co. and it operated a book bindery, printing and stereotyping business. Later in the 1820's it was located at 9 Washington Street. This company was active until at least 1849.
It appears that G. J. Loomis published chapbooks for juveniles only in 1822. Incomplete information exists on the books but two different formats have been seen.
One set has numbered titles. The other set has blue wraps but no numbering.
My guess is that the Loomis Toy Books shown directly below was a series of twelve books whereas the unnumbered volumes in blue wraps were not published as a series but rather just a grouping of unrelated titles with a similar format.
Further research will need to be done. The titles known are shown
