Not much is known about the Sharps Publishing Company. In the mid 1870's it published the American Milliner and Dressmaker periodical. It copyrighted six Chatterboxes in 1880.

It appears it was still publishing them in 1882.

These Chatterboxes consist of numerous illustrations and short vignettes for children all of which had been previously published in other formats.

Chromo cover. Different cover illustration for each book. 4 to. 9” x 7.5”.

In 1885 the Standard Printing and Publishing Company list included two of the six Chatterboxes previously published by Sharps as well as ten other chromo cover oversized books also previously published by Sharps.

Standard in 1885 was at the same address (161 Franklin) that Sharps was at in 1880-1882. Most likely it succeeded the former company.

In 1886 Estes & Lauriat, the holder of the Chatterbox name trademark, won a permanent injunction stopping Standard from publishing its Chatterboxes.
