William R. Spinney, New York

William R. Spinney clerked in a bookstore in Boston until joining D. Lothrop & Co. in 1870. He was a national salesperson for that firm. He had a jobbing business with W. B. Perkins, Spinney & Perkins, in the early-mid 1880's. Beginning in 1885 the latter firm managed D. Lothrop's New York branch store.

In 1886 Spinney began a long term relationship with T. Y. Crowell & Co. as a regional representative. This employment ended with his death in 1919.

William R. Spinney published at least two series for juveniles. It may have printed other sets but at this time that is unknown.
