Our Little Ones and the Nursery (Annual)
Published by Lee and Shepard
This monthly children's magazine was formed when Our Little Ones,
which had been started in November, 1880, merged with The Nursery which
had been published by John Shorey between 1867 and 1880. The newly
named combined magazine began in 1882. It was out of business in 1899.
The magazine was published by the Russell Publishing Company. It also
published a yearly annual.
Oliver Optic edited this periodical from its founding until 1896.
Initially yearly editions called "Our Little Ones" were
published by Lee and Shepard (1881-1884). These are in board covers. 9"
x 7".
Estes and Lauriat published yearly collations of "Our Little Ones
and the Nursery" beginning in 1884 (Board covers only)
It was renamed The Little Ones Annual by 1887 and published in two
formats: Illuminated Board Covers and Cloth with gilt. Both are quarto
size. 9.25" x 7".
Estes and Lauriat editions have been seen as late as 1897.
