This is another of the early 1870's libraries that include a number
of titles that mostly have no relationship to each other.
All of these titles are listed in 1873 as "single juveniles".
A copy of House on Wheels from 1871 that has an appliqué cover has been
seen. It is not part of this series.
When first advertised in August, 1870 there was only one format at
$1.50 and three new books were added to "Alice" to make up set. By the
end of 1871, the titles were published in three formats. (See below)
Cloth. Various colors seen. Cover has a book appropriate gilt
picture in the center.

House on Wheels
This 1872 publication of Through the Looking Glass is the American
first edition.
The first issue has "wade" misspelled for "wabe" on page 21.
One of the rarest and most valuable of the Lee and Shepard books.
