J. W. Burke & Co., Macon, Georgia
John William Burke (1826-1897), a Methodist preacher, moved to Macon in 1858 where he managed the Methodist Book Repository. Previously, he had been living in Athens, Georgia where he had been trained as a printer. In 1863 he joined Samuel Boykin who was a publisher and magazine editor in his own right, to establish Burke, Boykin & Co. It was active into 1864. Apparently the business was destroyed during the war. It was reorganized as J. W. Burke & Co. This firm was active into the 20th century.
Both Burke and Boykin were active magazine/newspaper publishers. These publications are beyond the scope of this bibliography.
J. W. Burke & Co. published one series for juveniles.
