James Crissy, Philadelphia
Crissy & Markley, Philadelphia

James Crissy (1782-1867) established his printing/publishing company in Philadelphia in about 1820. The firm went through several partnerships and name changes between 1820 and 1846 when Crissy joined Edward C. Markley to form Crissy & Markley. Edward C. Markley had been in the book business from about 1816.
Crissy & Markley operated until 1865. Crissy & Markley was succeeded by E. C. Markley & Son.

James Crissy published two series for juveniles. Its successor, Crissy & Markley, published the same two series.
