Dayton & Wentworth, Boston
Dayton & Wentworth was an active publisher between 1853 and 1855. It succeeded Horace Wentworth.
Publisher history:
Horace Wentworth 1850-1853
Dayton & Wentworth 1853-1855
Wentworth & Co. 1855-1857
Wentworth, Hewes & Co. 1858-1859
Thayer & Eldridge 1859-1861
Dayton & Wentworth published what appears at first glance to be a series. That is why it is listed here. In reality however the Hazel Nook books are not a series. In 1855, for reasons unknown to me, Dayton & Wentworth renamed book #1 from "Happy Nights" to "Happy Hours". The content of the books is otherwise identical except for the colored illustrations in book #1.
The successor publishers to Dayton & Wentworth only published the
Farley book as "Happy Hours".
None of these other firms printed any series for juveniles.
