Dresser, McLellan & Co., Portland, Maine
Aurin L. Dresser (1838-1884) was a native of Brunswick, Maine.
Before becoming involved with Mclellan he was a named partner in two
other Portland, Maine firm: Carter and Dresser and then in 1869 Dresser
and Ayer. This latter firm was in business until at least 1873.
Thomas Bird Mosher married Dresser's daughter and in 1871 was
associated with the Dresser, McLellan & Co.
This firm went out of business in the late summer of 1880.

Thereafter McLellan, Dresser and Mosher were involved with new firms.
Dresser started up Aurin L. Dresser and Co. in 1882. In 1883 Chas. C.
Brown bought the stock of Aurin L. Dresser and continued to use that
firm name until July, 1883
Mosher went into business with Reuel T. McLellan in 1882. This new
firm, McLellan, Mosher and Co. dissolved in 1889.
Only one juvenile series was published by any of these firms. Dresser,
McLellan & Co. printed the Forest City Series.
