Kendall & Stillwell, Providence
Kendall & Stillwell was a bookseller, music seller and publisher. The firm was established by Oliver Kendall, Jr. (1813-1858) and Abraham H. Stillwell in about 1829. The company dissolved in 1834. Both men had been in the book business prior to their joining together. Kendall's father had been a bookbinder.
Oliver Kendall published a four page weekly as a fourteen year old
called the Juvenile Gazette.
It was printed between November, 1827 and November, 1828. It was sold
to Smith & Parmenter. After the dissolution of Kendall &
Stillwell, Kendall manufactured organs.
This firm published one known series of chapbooks. Most of the titles/numbering are not known. It is thought that there were twelve books in the series. Two numbers are known.
