Longley Brothers, Cincinnati

Longley & Brother was established in about 1850. In 1854 the five Longley Brothers (Septimius, Servetus, Elias, Alcander, Cyrenius) established the Longley Brothers. In 1860, the firm was named Longley & Co. and by 1871 the outfit had morphed into the Card Fabrique Co. and had moved to Middletown, Ohio.

The output of the early firms was mainly phonetic school books and books on phonography, phrenology and physiology. In addition it published the weekly Phonetic Advocate and the Youth’s Friend. By 1861 Longley & Co. started in the playing card business.

Longley Brothers published one series of books for juveniles.
