Pease's Bookstore and Circulating Library, Albany
Richard H. Pease (1813-1891) settled in Albany in about 1833. Shortly thereafter he established Pease's Circulating Library at 2912 Market Street. Of note, is that his cousin, Erastus H. Pease, came to Albany about the same time and started his bookstore.
As is noted in this bibliography (19th
Century Juvenile Series - Richard H. Pease) R. H. Pease
published four series of chapbooks for juveniles beginning in about
1847.
These books had the R. H. Pease imprint. There is evidence that Pease
published one set of chapbooks in 1839 with the "Pease's Bookstore and
Circulating Library" imprint.
I am calling this series the "Six Cents Toy Books Series".
