W. B. Perkins & Company, New York
W. B. Perkins was a native of New Bedford, Mass. He moved to Canton, Ohio in 1867 and established Perkins & Weston with Mr. Weston as a book, stationery, and wall paper business. When Mr. Weston retired in 1871, C. F. Perkins joined the firm which was then known as W. B. Perkins & Co. In 1883 the company dissolved.
Perkins career path is unknown. He represented both D. Lothrop Company and DeWolfe, Fiske & Co. in the 1890's. In 1895 he worked for the New York Publishing House. Also in 1895 he ran W. B. Perkins & Co. The latter house appears to only have published books in 1895. In 1896 Perkins joined John Hovendon to form Perkins & Hovendon. This outfit was a bookseller of reminders.
Five series for children and juveniles have been noted.
