A. J. Rowland, Philadelphia
A. J. Rowland (1840-1920) was born in Valley Forge. He graduated from Lewisburgh College and thereafter was a chaplain in the army. Subsequently he attended the seminary. He was the pastor at a number of churches including an eleven year stint at the Franklin Square Baptist Church in Baltimore which ended in 1895. At that time he moved to Philadelphia to become secretary of the American Baptist Publication Society. For many years previously he had been the editor of "Our Young People", a Philadelphia publication.
This firm published one series for juveniles. Volume #4 of 4 was
published initially by Griffith & Rowland.
