Toy Book Repository, New York
The exact relationship between John Y. Slater and the Toy Book Repository is unclear. It appears that Slater was in charge of the Repository in the 1840-1850’s. Sometime in the late 1850’s Slater moved his operations to Baltimore where he died in 1911. In the 1860’s as J. Y. Slater & Co. it published the Southern Home Journal. In the 1870's Slater published books as J. Y. Slater.
