This series was introduced by Henry A. Sumner & Company in 1880. It appears that the book plates were from previously published books by Graves and Young. Thus the ad for Aunt Hattie's Library and Her Little Friends found in these volumes (which includes Chest of Tools instead of Little Miss Fret) does not apply to this Sumner Library but rather the earlier Graves and Young publications.

This series was published earlier by Henry A. Young & Co. and even earlier by the aforementioned Graves & Young.
