Although the catalogues and various booklists indicate that the
"Peacemakers" was one of the books in this series, the title on the
spine of the book is "The Peacemakers" but the title page notes
"Cedardale" as the title with the full title as "Cedardale, or the
Peacemakers".
This 12 book series was first published by Lippincott, Grambo &
Company in 1852. The first editions of all 12 books have copyrights and
title pages that state 1852. Yearly editions were put out by
Lippincott, Grambo in 1853, 1854, and 1855.
Cloth. Gilt title, series name and picture two girls reading is on
the front cover. Starting in 1853 editions have the same embossed cover
illustration but not in gilt. The spine has gilt lettering
and an illustration. 6.25" x 4.5".
Note the 1852 deluxe edition with extra cover gilt.
1854/1855 editions have different decorative cover designs.
