Volume #7 Jerry is incomplete because the author died while writing
it. The book includes a memoir of the life of the author.
These books were co-published with Sheldon, Blakeman & Co. and Geo.
S. Blanchard until 1859 and thereafter with Sheldon and Co. and Geo S.
Blanchard.
Editions have been seen in 1855, 1856, 1857, 1858, 1859, 1862, 1863,
1864, 1865, 1867, 1870, and 1872
Cloth. Various colors. Blindstamped cover with embossed pattern and
lettering with the series name and title in the center of the cover.
(An 1856 Whistler has been seen with gilt on the embossed cover
lettering.) Gilt lettering and illustration on the spine. 7” x
4.75”.
This format is unchanged throughout the life of the series.
The first six (and seven) titles were sold separately or in a boxed set.
