Initially there were to be "12 or more volumes" in this series. Only
these four titles were published.
Known editions were published in 1851,1852, 1853, 1854, 1856, 1857,
1860, 1866. The title pages are all dated. Ads as late as 1872 have
been seen.
Some are co-published with Sheldon, Blakeman & Co and Geo. S.
Blanchard 1857
Others are co-published with Sheldon and Company and Geo. S. Blanchard
1859/1860
Some ads in 1861 called the four books the "Histories for the Young"
series.
D. Lothrop & Co. reprinted this series using the Gould and Lincoln
title pages.

Cloth. Red and blue seen. Blindstamped front cover with series name and
title embossed on the center of the front cover. 6.75" x 4.5"
Later issues have publisher's name in gilt at the base of the
spine.
