Volumes #1-6 were copyrighted in 1896 by Hubbard Publishing Co.
Books #7-12 were copyrighted in 1897 by Hubbard Publishing Co.
These books should be distinguished from the CenturyCo. Brownie Series.
These volumes were issues in three iterations:
1. As advertising paperbacks (1896-1897) 32 pages
2. 16 page booklets (same size, cover etc. of the 32 page booklets but
with half the content).
3. 12 page booklets (called the Brownie Primers)- These are 6" x 4".
These books were given away in a variety of marketing efforts. Movie theaters, coffee, clothing stores, drug stores, etc. would give a book or two away with a purchase.
Board covers and clothbound editions containing various numbers of
the 12 books above were published by a number of firms. They are
beyond the scope of this bibliography.
