Introduced as a series by James Miller in about 1861. The earliest series editions of these books note the 522 Broadway address under the title page imprint (until 1867). Later the volumes have the 647 Broadway address on the title page (until 1870's). These books are reprints.

peripheral design. Spine has gold hilt lettering and illustration
which is the same as that noted in Format 1.
