This series (and the books) was introduced by D. Lothrop & Co. in 1873. It was published for several years thereafter. In 1881 these four books were called the "Uncle Anthony Series"

In 1881 these volumes were part of the 100 title "Fireside Library".
In 1883 they were part of the multivolume "Fern Glen Books"
