Derby & Miller published volume #1 in 1853. When the first edition of the second book was published in 1854 (Copyright 1853 by Derby and Miller), it stated "Second Series" on the title page.

I cannot find evidence that Derby and Miller actually published the "Second Series" which was released in January, 1854. This is despite Derby and Miller ads that state it is coming in January, 1854. It appears at this time that the "Second Series" first edition was actually published by Miller, Orton and Mulligan in 1854. That publisher reprinted the first series numerous times in that same year.

Later editions in 1854 of the "Second series" noted Miller, Orton & Mulligan as the 1853 copyright holder.
