Published by Allen Bros. Later Leavitt & Allen Bros. published this series in 1869. The Leavitt & Allen Bros. books note "for Girls" on the spine. Interestingly the Leavitt & Allen Bros. six volumes were also divided into two three volume sets. One called the "Favorite Scholar Series for Boys" and the other named the "Favorite Scholar Series for Girls". No books which note "Favorite Scholar Series for Boys" have been seen.
