Published as a series from about 1891 to 1897 by Hurst & Co. In 1890 Hurst bought the plates for these books from Robert Carter & Brothers which put out this set in the 1860’s.

Carter published this set as a six book series. Hurst combined two volumes into one so there are only three books in the Hurst series. Later in 1898 these titles were part of a publishers series: Epworth Library. In 1899 the Epworth Library was called the Pearl Library without any change in the cover format.
