Title #1 was released prior to the formation of the series which was in 1877 by D. Lothrop & Co.
Numerous illustrations.
Cloth. Various colors. All the books have non book specific appliqués of a young child on the front cover. Volume #1 has gilt letter boxes on the spine and the cover with a black line drawn pattern. 7.25" x 5".
Books #2 and #3 have silver gilt instead of gilt.
Note that any one title may have any one of a number of different appliqué pictures.
The earliest editions of #1 have 1875 on the title page.
