James R. Osgood & Co. published these juveniles by Hawthorne
throughout the 1870's. It also published the other works by Hawthorne
at this time.
It appears that the juvenile works were not published in a unique
format but rather in the same format as other Hawthorne titles. The
different formats are noted below. The juvenile works are reprints.
By 1876 twelve Hawthorne books were published in the Hawthorne’s Works "Illustrated Library Edition". In 1872 only 7 volumes (but no juveniles) were in this set. Later this set included "Tanglewood Tales" and "The Wonder-Book and Grandfather’s Chair". Seen in Half calf and cloth.
The Works of Nathaniel Hawthorne were published throughout the 1870's. It included all three juvenile titles. Books were published in cloth or half calf.
The "Little Classic Edition" included all 23 titles that were also in "the Works". These were sold in cloth, half calf or half Morocco. 1877
Household Edition was published in 1877. Details are unknown.

Format 2. This format has been seen between 1872 and 1878. This set
included not just the juvenile works.
