This series was started late in 1845. Volumes #1-9 were published by
Edward Dunigan. Thereafter all of the other titles including reprints
of the first nine volumes were published by Edward Dunigan and Son.
Advertised as being for family reading or sunday schools.
Dunigan & Brother described this series as "tales and instructive
books for the young".
Art Maguire is listed in some January, 1846 ads as book #3. It appears
it was deleted from the series quickly and replaced by Tears on the
Diadem.
Numerous illustrations.
Cloth. Blindstamped. Gilt lettering and decoration on the spine.
18 mo.
In 1848 books #1-8 were issued by Edward Dunigan in cloth as well as
in
wraps. Thereafter only clothbound books have been noted.
The eleven book series was still being published in into 1851.
In 1855 the Home Library was changed somewhat such that there was a new
numbering. The set consisted of seven titles and was called the "Home
Library Second Series".
