The first three titles were released as one series in 1864 with the
first editions having the 1864 title page imprint. These three books
were sold as a boxed set. Sheldon reprints noted in 1865, 1866, 1869,
and of all six titles in 1870.
In 1868 the next three titles were published. At that time the series
was divided into series #1 and series #2. The first editions of these
titles have 1869 on the title page. They were also sold as a boxed set.
After 1869 the six books were noted as the "Home Stories" without the
two separate sub-series.
The frontispiece is the only illustration. Of note is that although
these titles are "first editions", the contents had previously appeared
in various periodicals.
Cloth. Various colors. Blindstamped with various embossed patterns.
Spine has gilt lettering and an illustration. 6.75" x 4.75".
