These titles were published earlier by several firms including Crocker
& Brewster, William D. Ticknor, Benjamin B. Mussey, and Ticknor,
Reed and Fields.
Clark, Austin & Smith, Clark, Austin, Maynard & Co. and Clark
& Maynard published this series. Clark, Austin & Smith bought
the plates of the six titles from Ticknor, Reed and Fields in April,
1853. Dated editions were published by the three Clark firms in
1853-1857, 1859, 1860, 1862-1864, 1866. Several undated later Clark
& Maynard books have been seen. An 1859 combination title book was
published. See below. All the volumes are 6” x 4”.
Starting in 1883 Thomas Y. Crowell & Co. published this series.

In 1859 Clark, Austin & Smith published Abbott's Lucy and Jonas
Library.
Details of this "Library" are unknown at this time. Only one book has
been seen. It contains two titles: "Jonas on a Farm in Winter" and
"Jonas on a Farm in Summer". Probably there are six books in the
library which contain all twelve titles from the two series.

Three formats from this publisher have been seen.

1864 and 1866 editions noted. Some books with a copyright of 1870 would

Date unknown. Based on the cover pattern a post-Format 2 book is suspected.
