All were first published in 1842 and edited by Sarah Hale. These
titles were reprinted into the mid 1850's. Thereafter, McLoughlin
reprinted the series. Edward Dunigan had previously published the
first six books in its "New Juvenile Books Series". See just below for
detail of that series.
Three different formats have been seen with the 16 mo. books.
8 plates each (Countries of Europe has 16 plates.)
Dunigan also published in 1849 a number of books that contained more
than one title from this series.
None of these books have been seen.

Format 1: Wraps. Simple design pattern with lettering in the front
cover. Edward Dunigan 5.5" x 4.5"
This format is the earliest one for this series. All ten of the titles
were published in this style. These books noted Hale as the editor.
The ads on the back are the same as the ones seen in the books that
note Parley (see below) as the author. Probably 1842-1844 based on the
137 Fulton Street address. (See below)
This format was still noted after the address changed to 151 Fulton
Street in 1844.
This edition was published with color or black and white internal
illustrations.
Format 2: On the cover of these books the title and written
information is within a characteristic rectangular like pattern. The
date of the format change is unknown. Edward Dunigan. This edition was
published with color or black and white internal illustrations.
Based on the address and the publisher name this format was published
between 1844 and 1848.
Format 3: Wraps. Cover illustrates two children in a field. 5.625" x
4.4".
Edward Dunigan & Brother is the publisher at 151 Fulton. This puts
the date between 1848 and 1856.
This edition was published with color or black and white internal
illustrations.
