There are two blindstamped cover patterns. The earlier one (first editions) has peripheral parallel lines on the cover whereas the later one has a decorative diamond pattern on the periphery. The earlier book back ads note eight books in the $500 Prize Series. The later book notes the eight books in the $500 Prize Series could be purchased in boxes of four volumes. The boxed sets were introduced in 1871.
