In 1881/1882 Russia was noted as "by a writer to be announced". By 1883 it was no longer mentioned in the Lothrop list.
In 1884 Scandinavia was dropped from the series list.
Initially sold as a boxed set.
Number 5 was added to the series in 1883.
Number 7 was added to the list in 1885.
Numerous illustrations.
Two formats
1. Cloth. Various colors noted. Gilt spine and cover lettering. 7.25" x 5.25".
All
the titles until at least 1883 were published in this format. It is
unknown whether "China" was published in this format or not.
2. Cloth. Gilt letter box on the cover with gilt
lettering on the spine. Black line drawn decorations on the cover and
spine.
(It is unknown whether this was a new format for the entire
series sometime in 1885 or later or whether only this title was
published in this format.)
