In the 1840's these titles were part of Appleton's Tales for the
People and Their Children.

Mission (Scenes in Africa) in two volumes
Scenes in Africa was originally titled Mission; or, Scenes in Africa.
By 1857 these titles were published completely in one volume and the
format was identical. They were not noted however to be in series in
advertisements.
In 1864 they were noted to be Marryat's Juvenile Stories. These titles
within the series were published into the 1900's in numerous editions.
A green and gilt cover has been noted in a collection of Appleton
Marryat's not part of this three volume serieswhich did not include the
titles.
The format for the titles from the 1850's to the late 1860's are shown
below. The later editions have not been seen.
Cloth. Various colors. Blindstamped. Gilt lettering and a book
appropriate illustration are on the spine. 12 mo. 7" x 4.5".
