This series was published by Rufus Merrill as well as Merriam and
Merrill. The earliest volumes were published in 1848. The latest by
Merriam and Merrill were printed in 1856.

The "Museum of Natural History" appears to have the same titles with the same formats. Instead of stating "Merrill's Toys" at the top of the page, these books note Museum of Natural History. These titles were published between 1850 and 1854.

Merriam & Merrill published several other series besides the
Museum
of Natural History. Advertisements note that it published Four Series
of Toy Books each containing 12 volumes.
Some of the titles are the same as the Rufus Merrill books but not
infrequently even the same title has different contents.
