Introduced as a series in 1884 by D. Lothrop and Co. These books are new enlarged editions from previous editions published in 1878 and 1879. These three books have consecutive page numbering based on the earlier "Four Feet, Wings and Fins" volume published in 1878.

In 1887 this series changed the names of the three books and became the "Children's Outdoor Neighbors" series.
