It appears that a fourth book, "Tailor Boy" by William M. Thayer was
planned for 1864. This book was never published.
Editions have been seen in 1863, 1864, 1866 (Walker, Fuller and Co.)
and 1867 (Horace B. Fuller)
It is presumed that the true first editions do not note on the title
page a number of copies sold.
These books were very popular. An 1867 "Pioneer Boy" noted on the title
page "thirty-first thousand"
Illustrated frontispiece.
Format.
Pebbled cloth. Various colors. Blindstamped. Gilt spine lettering
and book appropriate illustration. 7" x 4.75".
(These volumes were published in the same format by Walker, Wise and
Co., Walker, Fuller and Co., and Horace B. Fuller)
Volume #1 The Walker, Wise and Co. first edition noted 1863 at the base
of the title page and has an embossed picture of the white house which
is highlighted. Later editions indicate on the title page the number of
copies printed.
