The Christmas Stocking Library was introduced by D. Lothrop & Co.
in 1878. It was published into the mid 1890's by D. Lothrop Co. (after
1887)
The Play-Day Series was introduced the following year in 1879. They
were published as a boxed set in wraps. 4" x 3".
The titles are the same in both series.
The formats for the series are different. The Christmas Stocking
books are cloth. Illustrated covers. 4" x 3".
Later editions which were published by D. Lothrop Co. have full cover
book specific illustrated covers different from the previous covers.
The Play-Land Series are cloth. Various colors. Black line drawn
design with an appliqué picture of a child on the front cover. (Chromo
covers) 4" x 3".
