These books were not actually written by Peter Parley (S. G.
Goodrich). Parley's name is noted as the author to improve sales.
The books in this series have a decorative colored title page. These
books date from 1847 into the 1850's when they were published by
Cornish, Lamport & Co. The titles were also part of the "Young
People's Library" and are distinguished from the latter books because:
1. They have an illuminated color decorative title page.
2. They do not have an engraved plate as a frontispiece.
These were also published by Cornish, Lamport & Co. and Sheldon,
Lamport and Blakeman.
