The series was announced as new in 1852. Titles #1-8 had previously
been published in the "Pictorial Life Series" and the "Biographical
School Series". There is no author noted for any of the biographies.
They are attributed however to John Frost.
In September, 1852 ten books were listed as being in this series.
Neither Henry Clay, Daniel Webster nor The Indians and The Gold Mines,
or, The Source of True Riches were included at that time.
In 1852 an ad lists 11 books- Henry Clay is not on that list but "The
Indians and The Gold Mines, or, The Source of True Riches" is.
By 1853 Henry Clay and Daniel Webster were part of the 12 book set and
"The Indians" had been deleted.
