This series should not be confused with the "Golden Treasury Series" published by D. Lothrop & Co. in 1884. This series was not strictly for juveniles.

Volume 1 was published only in gilt edges initially by D. Lothrop & Co.

The first three books were introduced in series form by D. Lothrop Company in 1890 with the fourth book added to the series in 1891.

Cloth with gilt book appropriate picture on the cover. Floral design on the cover and spine. Title lettered on the left half of the front cover.

This is the 1886 format of Volume #1 published prior to the series editions.

The earlier formats of this series have the wavy lines on the cover which separates the title from the floral decoration and gilt illustration.
