These books were previously published with different titles by Thomas Y. Crowell & Co. (1881, 1882) as well as by Belford, Clarke & Co. in 1884 and 1885.

The books published by Crowell were: "Rip Van Winkle's Travels in Foreign Lands" and "Rip Van Winkle's Travels in Asia and Africa". The earlier Belford, Clarke & Co. books were "Van Wert's Travels in Asia and Africa" and "Van Wert's Travels in Foreign Lands".

These two books were part of the four volume "All Aboard Series". A number of other publishers printed these books in various formats and titles. For details see: All Aboard Series.
