The first edition of #1 is dated 1864 but does not state the number
of copies printed on the title page or an edition number
The first edition of #2 does not note an edition number on the title
page. It is dated 1865.
The first edition of #4 notes 1866 on the title page and no number of
volumes printed.
The Walker, Wise and Co. first edition of Volume 1 was published in
1864. The Walker, Fuller and Co. first editions of Volumes 2-4, and a
reprint of Volume 1 were published in 1865. That publisher also
reprinted the series in 1866.
Horace B. Fuller reprinted the series in its entirety in 1867.
Later series reprints by Worthington, John W. Lovell, James Miller,
Thomas R. Knox, Adams & Company and others have been noted.
Frontispiece and title page illustrations only.
Format for all three publishers:
Cloth. Various colors. Blindstamped. Gilt lettering and illustration
of an eagle on the spine. 7" x 5".
