*These books were not written by Peter Parley (S. G. Goodrich) but
his name was used to improve the sales.
The books in this series differ from the "Parley Select Library" in
that:
1. They have an engraved steel plate as the frontispiece.
2. The title page is plain and not decorated. See above.
This series was published from about 1843 to the late 1840's. The later
books note a St. Louis Nafis, Cornish & Co. co-imprint address.
Several front cover formats have been seen.
Cloth, cloth with gilt covers, and sheep covers noted. 16 mo.
This cover has a St. Louis imprint indicating it is probably the latest
cover format of this series.
