Perkinpine & Higgins first published this series in 1867. These titles are all reprints.
Two 1869 editions are shown below.
1. Cloth. Various colors. Blindstamped with gilt lettering,
illustration and decoration on the spine. 5.75" x 5".
2. Cloth. various colors. P & H. within a decorative pattern on
the front cover. Gilt lettering, illustration and decoration on
the spine. 5.75" x 5".
No priority between the two formats has been definitively established. Generally the book without the P & H on the cover is the earlier one based on Perkinpine & Higgins publishing patterns.
The earlier editions of this series note the Fourth Street address on the title page. Post-1872 copies have the Arch Street address on the title page. None of the latter books have been seen.
