In 1885 Birchwood by JAK was announced as the initial volume

noted a six volume series. The Riverside Museum was a sequel to
Birchwood. None of the other titles are related.
In addition in 1888 #1, 2, 3, and 5 were part of the Crowell's Sunday School Library, No. 7.
All eight books were in the "Popular Books for Young People" published in about 1889-1892.
Prior to 1888 the titles were not part of an official series and they had different cover formats.
